DL-Camphor Anhydride - Introduction
DL-Camphoric anhydride(DL-Camphoric anhydride) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C10H14O3. It is an anhydride formed after oxidation of camphor (camphor).
DL-Camphoric anhydride is a white crystalline solid that is stable at room temperature. Its melting point is 166-168 ℃, boiling point is 342 ℃. It is soluble in organic solvents such as alcohol, ether and chloroform, and insoluble in water.
DL-Camphoric anhydride are mainly used as reagents in organic synthesis and for the synthesis of other organic compounds. It can be used to produce DL-Camphoric anhydride anhydride (DL-camphoric acid anhydride) and other camphor derivatives, these compounds have a wide range of applications in the chemical industry and medicine.
The method for preparing DL-Camphoric anhydride is usually to mix camphor with nitric acid for oxidation reaction. During the reaction, it is necessary to control the temperature and reaction conditions to avoid side reactions.
When handling DL-Camphoric anhydride, appropriate safety measures need to be taken. It is an irritating chemical, avoid direct contact with the skin and eyes. It should be operated in a well-ventilated place to avoid inhaling its vapors. If inhaled or ingested, seek medical help immediately.
